A new solo exhibition from Nicholas Rynearson opens this month at Gallery 198 in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, built around a deceptively simple question: what difference can a small difference make?
About the Exhibition
what difference brings together selections from two of Rynearson’s ongoing series, Story of Line and Curve and Duck-Rabbit. Both bodies of work strip composition down to its most basic elements – simple shapes, lines, curves, color, and a handful of governing rules – then work through the possible variations those rules allow. The result is a show built on subtle shifts, where the smallest adjustment to a line or a curve can change the entire reading of a piece.
