The Art Mavens and Lips Café are pleased to welcome the exclusive exhibition of Chantel Walkes “Phenomenal : A Muse Series” This special collaboration will include five original hand embellished prints and one original canvas.
Chantel Walkes [ b.1994] is a Canadian-born multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Visual arts has been a strong force in her life given her interest and background in photography and fashion design. Chantel’s mother exposed her to art at a young age. Since then, art has been her primary outlet. And through her own experiences and from drawing inspiration from her mother’s dark skin, Chantel’s work highlights the beauty of women of color. As a self-taught artist, she continues to draw her inspiration from photographs and people. Her art practice entails the use of mediums such as gouache and acrylic that are aided by unique textures of fabric and other materials.
