“Natalia Nakazawa: A Soil Thick with Promise” is the artist’s debut solo exhibition exploring transnationality, diasporic contexts, and institutional critique. The show features paintings, textiles, and ceramics centered around vessel forms, incorporating symbols of transition and patterns from diverse cultures. Inspired by Adrienne Maree Brown’s poem, Nakazawa highlights the role of pleasure in personal and collective transitions. Through mixed perspectives and interrupted sequences, she challenges linear narratives, emphasizing hybridity. The exhibition reflects Nakazawa’s fascination with cultural institutions, questioning national identities. Curated by Katherine Gressel, known for site-specific and participatory art, the show offers a collaborative and thought-provoking experience.
