Why Not Art presents Laughing on the Outside, a pop-up exhibition at Littlefield Gallery, 635 Sackett St, Brooklyn NY 11217. FREE Works on view from April 1 – June 24 and also online at whynotart.com
Laughing on the Outside explores 5 Brooklyn artists’ irreverent, surrealist and pop-art works that resonate during this uncertain time. Funny but discomfiting, selected works include swaggering cartoon characters, pandemic parties with stuffed animals, Trump as a rose-period clown, and NSFW art pieces. Each work in the show can prompt an uncomfortable laugh but also deeper contemplation of the insane world we are living in.
Brooklyn artists Andrew Smenos, Marlene Weisman, Brian Goldfarb, Demarcus McGaughey and Michael James Freedman are featured, curated by Grace Freedman of Why Not Art. The gallery show will be set at Littlefield, well-known for its comedy club shows.
