First US Solo Exhibition by Japanese Artist, Sei Yamazaki.
TITLE: UNIT FOR Y-AXIS
Sei Yamazaki constantly seeks the“absoluteness in relativity” and converts his findings into shape. By shifting general beliefs in our society, he attempts to find something that is essentially absolute, by which he means ideas that belong in“a life that wasn’t lived”. In other words, it is about finding and casting a spotlight on elements that weren’t chosen for one reason or another in the evolution process.
This new series of artwork is called “Unit for Y axis”. In the world that consists of an X axis, Y axis and Z axis, the Y axis exists because of gravity. If we free the Y axis, what shapes will we perceive? And what changes will we see in the balance between the three equivalent axes? By combining the power of nature and accidental factors, Yamazaki doubts the relativity and seeks what is really absolute. This exhibition is an experiment to find the absolute in the relativity and to portray the“life that hasn’t been lived”.
