Wize Family and Ai-Creo are pleased to present, “A Distinct World”, a solo exhibition of new paintings and installation by Visual Artist Unash Hendricks. The body of work in the series invites the viewer into the inner workings of the artist’s mind. Having dealt with depression and anxiety, the artist uses her imagination as a way to escape the darkness that has been and continues to be her personal reality.
A Distinct World is a place where the artist welcomes all who are on the journey of finding themselves, through the use of spirituality and creativity. In this place, the artist says, “Warriors, Guardian Birds and the power of art protect me. I’ve learned that my light outshines the darkest parts of myself. In this space, my creativity gives me a sense of purpose, it allows me to express things that are sometimes hard to say. I have created this world where I am safe, to be myself, to love, to be – That is my Distinct World”
Hendricks is a 20-year old Visual Artist originally from Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Broward County Florida, where she started painting at the age of 13. The exhibition is a culmination of the artist’s experiences in both cities that have shaped her as an individual. Although Acrylic paint is her medium of choice, she employs the use of other materials in her production process. She has participated in various group exhibitions, however this will be the artist’s first ever Solo exhibition.
