The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition HOT FINAL SUMMER ART WEEKEND 8/18 + 8/19
The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) presents our final weekend of our HOT SUMMER SHOW August 18 + 19th in our 25,000 square foot Gallery located in a rustic Civil War era warehouse at 481 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Gallery will be open 1-6, with FREE admission to all, donations gratefully accepted.
Our Special Closing Weekend Events:
Saturday, August 18th
2-5 SICC Spoken Word – “Words Across Bridges”: On closing weekend, Saturday August 18th, writers from the Staten Island Creative Community will get together again with writers from the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition to present original writing in Red Hook. On August 18th at 2 p.m. Fedeline Charles will be featured reading poetry from her new book as well as Hiroko Otani and Dennis Green who will read and perform in two languages
Sunday, August 19th
2-4 PM Jazz Foundation Presents: Rafik Williamson
Rafik Williamson has been a professional pianist for 58 years, having played with greats like Hank Mobley, Lou Donaldson, Archie Shepp, and Pharoah Sanders. Rafik has toured the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Japan. He is an alumnus of the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
Presented by the Jazz Foundation of America, with partial support from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.
4 pm Art Auction – Join in Lively bidding on affordable art donated by BWAC artists.

- Color My World, 10 different large scale Grand Installations
- COLOR, a National Juried Show
- In The Groove an International Juried show of Album Cover Art
- Good Neighbors of Park Slope – The Art Group, an exhibition of artists 50 and older from Brooklyn communities
- Summerscape, our Members Exhibition, in three parts:
- Showcasing artists’ body of work through life and art
- Artists’ concepts of Summer and summer visions
- And, the Auction Wall, of Member’s work, to be auctioned on the closing day, August 19th
BWAC’s 25,000 sf Civil War-era gallery is located at a spectacular waterfront site overlooking the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor across from the Fairway supermarket and down the block from IKEA in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, set amidst Artist Studios, maker-places, galleries and trendy restaurants. BWAC Gallery is accessible by MTA public transportation, NYC Ferry to Red Hook, IKEA Ferry/NY Water Taxi and Red Hook biking is a breeze!
Admission to the Gallery, The Red Hook Experience, the waterfront view, and all special events is free to everyone, donations are gladly accepted.
