Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC)’s 2017 Spring Art Shows
Rites of Spring
Wide Open 8
Recycle 2017
Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 and Sunday, June 4th, 2017
There are certain rites of spring that define the season – the blossoming Cherry Esplanade at BBG, the return of ice cream cones and rose wine, and for the artists and patrons of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition spring time signals a fresh new season of art shows and performances. Rites of Spring, where light-filled airy galleries are loaded with images of rebirth and renewal from over 150 artists; Wide Open 8, a national juried show selected by MoMA assistant curator, Cara Manes, with 120 pieces in all media chosen from over 1500 submissions; Recycle 2017, juried by Harriet Taub of NYC’s Materials for the Arts, which has introduced many of our visitors to the new re-use genre. 65 pieces are exhibited.
Special events are planned for every day of the show – including the Sunday performance series and Saturday reading series, which aims to celebrate and savor the wondrous variety of Brooklyn-based wordsmiths.

Tom Fitzpatrick and Guests
My objective as a singer/songwriter is to write songs that are short, concise and melodic. The goal ultimately, is that the listener will have something that they walk away remembering, be it a catchy melody or a lyric that resonates – ideally both. I’d say my style taps into elements of folk, country and rock and I utilize both 6 and 12 string guitars in my performances. https://www.reverbnation.com/fitztunes
The show is open weekends 1-6PM and runs through June 18.
