FiveMyles presents Resolution by Larry Weekes in the Plus/Space.
ON VIEW: 11/11 – 12/17/17
The main theme in Larry Weekes’ work has been his passionate belief in the term “IWE” (I am part of WE) – the connection of human beings to each other. He sees this clearly with the widespread need need for the worship of a god, and with this exhibition the artist respects and celebrates the diverse ways men have expressed their spirituality.
The installation in the FiveMyles Plus/Space, a swirl of organic shapes, that measures 11 x 11 x 10 ft., references the veneration before the Kaaba Stone, the serenity of Buddhism and the oneness with God in the Kabbalah.
The sound of jazz vocalist Kurt Elling, whose songs in part inspired Resolution, accompanies the exhibition.
