Opening Reception: Form and Force/ Symptom of a Universe
On view at Trestle Gallery and Trestle Projects: December 16 – January 6th 2017. Opening reception: December 16th 7-9pm.

Artist’s come to Trestle to hone their craft, build community, and participate in exhibition opportunities. This year’s annual resident showcase is curated by Curator-In-Residence, Jesse Firestone, and celebrates the diverse and exciting works the artists have developed during their residencies. In response to studio visits and subsequent conversations Firestone has organized two distinct exhibitions, Form and Force and A Symptom of The Universe. They highlight seemingly opposite approaches to art making: process as a method of inquiry and emotion as the impetus for making. The exhibitions will span both of our Gowanus locations: Trestle Gallery at 168 7th Street, and Trestle Projects at 400 3rd Ave. This new format provides an opportunity for conceptual juxtapositions, as opposed to a simple survey of works in a single locale.
