Dungeon Beach Show Closes Friday

DUNGEON BEACH and ART IN BROOKLYN proudly present the next [dB] Visual Artist Series featuring the dynamic, mixed-media work of Rhia Hurt and innovative video art of Elizabeth Riley. The [dB] Visual Artist Series embarks upon its second major event with curatorial selections by Michael Sorgatz, painter and founder of Art in Brooklyn.

Rhia Hurt currently lives and works in NYC. She received her MFA in Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2009. She has since shown in California and New York. Her work is in private collections throughout the United States. In addition to her art studio practice, Hurt is also the Director of Brooklyn Art Space and Trestle Gallery, an arts organization in Brooklyn, NY.

Elizabeth Riley graduated from Barnard College and received an MFA from Hunter College. Her videos and sculptures/installations with embedded video elements have appeared in galleries and alterative spaces, renegades and pop up shows. In 2012 her “Tabletop Cityscape” and “Moving/Still Print Series” was exhibited in a three-person show at Storefront Bushwick, and in 2011 she was a guest host for the Studio Salon Series, curated by David Gibson where her “Dragons of Iceland Installation,” including six live video elements, was presented. Her art has appeared at Denise Bibro Fine Arts, Janet Kurnatowski Gallery, Norte Maar, Active Space, Sugar in Bushwick, NY Studio Gallery, Sideshow Gallery, PS 122,Rupert Ravens Contemporary and Nurtureart. She has been honored with ten artist residencies, including the I-Park Residency, East Haddam Connecticut, and the Anderson Center Residency (supported by a grant from the Jerome Foundation), Red Wing, Minnesota, both 2013, and the SIM Residency, Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2011.

The [dB] Visual Artist Series seeks to unify Brooklyn’s creative community by joining musicians, filmmakers and contemporary visual artists together within the same environment. Curated by Quinn Dukes, the rotating artist series highlights contemporary Brooklyn-based artists working in 2D, 3D and 4D media.
