Child Development Support Corporation 3rd Annual Starving Artist Art Show and Sale

Child Development Support Corporation (CDSC) presents their 3rd Annual Starving Artist Art Show and Sale, which will take place January 21-23, 2011. CDSC’s 3rd Annual Starving Artist Art Show and Sale is an essential showcase of pieces that embody the history, diversity, and vibrancy of Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill and Bedford-Stuyvesant. In addition to showcasing the work of local professional artists, the show will also present the work of about 10 local youth between the ages of 5-18 who attended a series of ongoing art classes held at CDSC between November 20 and December 18, 2010. The art classes were taught by professional artist and educator Kimberly Carmody (Founder and Executive Director of Urban River Arts) and the featured artist in CDSC’s 2nd Annual Starving Artist Art Show and Sale, Sophia Dawson (Founder of I Am Wet Paint). Fifty percent of all professional and student artwork sold during the show will be donated to CDSC in order to raise funds to renovate the fifth floor of its building into a Community Art Centre. The Community Art Centre will be a valuable resource for the community of Central Brooklyn because it will be a safe environment where professional artists use the arts to build the confidence of youth to apply life skills.
